Recommended procedure for installation -Center outlet installation
- To replace or install two waste drain tubes, purchase two Waste Drain Tubes and cut to length with hacksaw, if necessary.
- Follow instructions for End Outlet Installation for both arms of tee for either
Slip Joint or Direct Connection.
End outlet installation - Direct connection:
- Turn off water at tap.
- Remove old waste drain tube.
- Remove top nut A and washer B.
- Invert nut A and drop insert into it.
- Attach to strainer using rubber washer.
- Put second nut E and poly washer F on insert as illustrated.
- Remove nut C and washer D from old tee and tailpiece and place on waste drain tube.
- Position waste drain tube. Tighten nuts by hand. Run water to test for leaks.
End outlet installation - Slip joint connection:
- Turn off water at tap.
- Remove old waste drain tube.
- Discard insert and one nut. Put nut A and washer B on strainer tailpiece.
- Remove nut C and washer D from old tee and tailpiece and place on waste drain tube.
- Position waste drain tube. Tighten nuts securely. Run water to test for leaks.
Installation hint:
- Put Teflon® tape on the drain threads before attaching nuts. This will provide a better seal against leaks.
- Use a scrap of cloth to protect the chrome finish on the nuts when you tighten with a pipe wrench.
Pipe or Spud Wrench (to remove old brass drain).
