S Traps — Installation Instructions

Instructions:
  1. Turn off water at the tap.
  2. Remove old S Trap.
  3. Remove inlet nut A from the J Bend and select 1-1/4 x 1-1/2 or 1-1/2 washer.
  4. Put 1-1/2 Marvel Connector on Schedule 40 plastic stub-out.
  5. Put nut A and washer on sink tailpiece.
  6. Loosen nut B.
  7. Put Marvel Connector nut C and washer on floor tube. Insert floor tube in connector.
  8. Adjust floor tube and swivel J Bend to align trap into position.
  9. Mark tube at point S, as shown. Cut if necessary.
  10. Place S Trap aside.
  11. Solvent weld the Marvel Connector to Schedule 40 plastic pipe stub-out. Follow procedure for solvent weld.
  12. Position S Trap in Marvel Connector Align J Bend with tailpiece.
  13. Hand tighten nuts A, B and C. Run water to test for leaks.

Note: These parts are designed for a hand-tight installation. Pipe thread compound is not required.
Note: If connecting to a 1-1/4 floor connection, purchase a 1-1/2 x 1-1/4 Reducer Coupling PP55-8 and follow instructions for installation.
Installation hints: Since it traps items that may fall into the drain and blocks gases from the waste drain system, water and dirt will be present in the existing trap. Place a bucket under the old trap before attempting to remove it.
Solvent weld procedure:
Do not solvent weld any parts until all parts have been test-assembled.
  1. IMPORTANT: Ask your dealer for the proper solvent weld cement.
  2. Clean all foreign matter from both mating parts.
  3. Apply solvent weld cement to both mating parts.
  4. Join both parts with a twisting motion.
